Stylish HR-approved Casual Friday Outfits
Remember that episode on The Office where it was Casual Friday and we got to see the Dunder Mifflin gang dressed down and living their best life? Your office may not be as funny and chaotic (and you may not have Michael Scott as a boss) but Casual Friday can be just as fun and about ten times as stylish. Here are seven casual, comfortable outfits that not only get the nod from HR but will help you slay that presentation too.
T-shirt, Trousers, and Mules
The one way to pull off a t-shirt at work is to pair it with very dark trousers and pointy-toed Mules. Don’t wear a slouchy t-shirt. Your top needs to be form-fitting to tie this look together. Choose solids like cherry red, bottle green or navy and tuck your shirt in. Mules finish this outfit and give it a professional touch.
Feminine Blouse, Loose-Fit Jeans, Ankle-boots
Boyfriend jeans will find new life with this look. Team your favorite pair with a button-up silk blouse or a blouse with ruffles or puff sleeves. The soft material and the girlish ruffles will downplay the loose fit of the jeans. For shoes, choose ankle boots with a heel to balance out all that flowy fabric.
Sweater Dress and Sneakers
Casual work outfits can be as easy as throwing on a dress and sneakers. A mid-length sweater dress with a straight silhouette gets brisk and fun with white or colorful sneakers. Remember to use a good quality knit that doesn’t bunch up when you sit.
Sweatshirt, Faux Leather and Block Heels
There are two ways you can style leather pants for work. The first is by really committing to being casual and pulling on a sweatshirt. The second involves wearing it with a cashmere crewneck for a more sophisticated look. Both of these looks go well with low block heels.
Oversize Knit, Wide Leg Trousers and Ballet Flats
The hem of your oversized knit top should cover the waistband of your wide-leg trousers with a little room to spare. Boxy shape with soft sleeves is a good silhouette to work with. Also, make sure you leave the prints or graphic options at home. A neutral-toned sweater over wide-leg trousers looks professional but is also very comfortable and chic. Ballet flats and a structured bag go great with this outfit.
Flowy Dress, Tall Boots
A mid-length, loose-fitting dress can be given some structure with slouchy leather boots. Floral dresses in a breezy fabric are ideal but stripes and solids are also great. The key to this look is the boots. Think high fashion, not Sunday on the ranch. If you’re not up for wearing heels, you could choose a shorter dress to wear with flats.
Head-to-Toe Denim
Denim-on-denim is a great look for the office and super comfortable too. There are plenty of fun ways to play with this look. You could also break the denim with a long black jacket over blue skinny jeans. Play around with colors and washes. A navy denim top over white denim is a classic, clean nautical pairing that is still professional.
